A couple of weeks ago I entered a competition on imz-itsalondonthing's blog, for fun to win a lovely pink Lipsy dress and I won!! Totally unexpected and a pleasant surprise, as it's always nice to win things.
Here's my prize :)
Got me thinking about the swinging sixties (at least that's what people say!). I've always loved the carefree style of that era, the freedom of expression through a spectrum of colours no matter how much the patterns made you go dizzy after looking at it too much. Also after such a conservative era as the 50's it was was the beginning of the liberating years which was reflected in the change in style, skirts and dresses were getting shorter, hot irons had been abandoned and Afro's were set free. There seemed to be a general sassy, no nonsense attitude about that time, which with no doubt came as a result of the many protests demanding social change and the need of the feminists movement to "stick it to the man"!
Flared sleeves were all the rage! |
Miss Ross always had it! |
Liberation in every sense of the word is written all over 60's style and this is only a small part.
Show me some of your inspirations maybe dads old dodgy swirly shirts!
This I added not just because of the velvet voices, but the smooth moves and handsome getup <3
You look beautiful, and you're right... there is a definite 60's feel about the dress
